Applications are invited to fill up the post of Chairperson, Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI). The FSSAI was established as a Statutory Body under the Food Safety and Standards Act, 2006 (No. 34 of 2006) for laying down science based standards for articles of food and to regulate their manufacture, storage, distribution, sale, and import, to ensure availability of safe and wholesome food for human consumption. The Chairperson of the FSSAI is to perform such duties and functions and exercise such powers as prescribed under the Food Safety and Standards Act, 2006 and the Rules and Regulations made thereunder. The Head Office of the FSSAI is in Delhi.

Eligibility

• The Applicants for selection to the office of Chairperson, FSSAI shall be persons of eminence in the field of Food Science or persons from the administration who have been associated with the subject and is either holding or has held the position of not below the rank of Secretary to the Govt. of India.
• Relevant work experience related to Central/ State Regulatory Bodies would be a desirable qualification for the position.

Experience

• The Chairperson shall hold office for a term of three years from the date on which he/she enters upon the office and shall be eligible for re-appointment for a further period of three years.

Age Limit

• The interested candidates can apply those who attains the age of 65 years whichever is earlier.

Salary

• The Remuneration for this post is Rs. 2,25,000 per month (Fixed) plus allowances as per guidelines issued by the Department of Personnel and Training (DoPT).

• The Application must be reached within 45 days from the date of publication of this circular in the Employment News. The closing date of receipt of application will be the 45th day from the date of publication of advertisement in the Employment News.
• Late & incomplete applications will not be considered.
• The Government of India will have the discretion to consider the candidature of any person who has not applied in response to newspaper advertisement.
• The Government also reserves the right to reject any/or all applications received for the office of Chairperson without assigning any reason.
• The effective date for determining the eligibility as per the prescribed qualification, age, experience etc. for the post shall be the closing date of receipt of applications.
• Canvassing of any kind will lead to disqualification of the candidature.
